Due to unforeseen issues, the Board of Education is postponing the sale of the 3 parcels of land in Springfield, WV. The board is continuing with the sale of the modular building at the old Slanesville Elementary. The location of the sale is being moved to Slanesville, WV.


NOTICE is hereby given to all whom it may concern that pursuant to the terms of West Virginia Code § 18-5-7, the BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE COUNTY OF HAMPSHIRE, is acting by its duly authorized agents, will sell at public auction the real property described below to the highest responsible bidder. It has been ascertained that the real property described below is no longer needed for school purposes. The auction shall be conducted in accordance with and subject to prescribed rules. A copy of such rules may be obtained from the contact identified below.

REAL PROPERTY TO BE SOLD: 95’ x 24’ modular at old Slanesville Elementary – 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms and entry way located at 6550 Bloomery Pike, Slanesville, WV 25444

Acceptable forms of payment shall be cash or check for at least ten percent (10%) of the sales price (bid price plus 5% buyer’s premium) in hand on date of sale. The ten percent (10%) deposit amount is non-refundable. Checks will be accepted as payment; however, release of purchased items will occur only after the check has cleared the issuing bank. Remaining sales price is due upon closing. The successful bidder is responsible for paying the buyer’s premium and any additional fees and charges associated with the closing transfer. Buyer’s premium is paid to the auctioneer – 5% up to $300,000 and 3% over $300,000.

The property will be sold without warranty of any sort. All liability for hazards associated with the subject property must be assumed by the successful bidder. There are no known or suspected hazards associated with the subject property.

The undersigned reserves the right to bid, the right to reject any and all bids, and the right to cancel or postpone the sale upon public outcry only at the time and place set out above.
