County Board of Education Self-Appraisal - August 2025
*6.1.a. At a minimum, CBEM shall annually assess their performance using statutorily-required CBEM performance appraisal, approved by the WVBE. This appraisal shall focus on collaborating with various constituency groups and general public, strategies necessary to monitor and improve student achievement on a continuing basis, and effective utilization of policy to governance. At the conclusion of the evaluation, the CBEM shall make available to the public a summary of the evaluation, including areas in which the CBEM concludes improvement is warranted.

Meetings
Regular meetings are held at 6:30 PM on 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month. unless there is a need to change due to holidays or other time conflicts. All meetings are posted on the Calendar on this website.
Special meetings and work sessions are scheduled and posted on the meeting calendar as needed.
Purpose of Meetings
Board of Education meetings are held in public for conduct of public business. The public business includes hearing reports, discussion of recommendations to the Superintendent, and the adoption of formal resolutions as set forth in the printed agenda. The Board may enter into Executive Session only upon a majority affirmative vote of the members present for specific reasons.

2026-2027 Proposed School Calendars Survey – Fill out form
Below is a copy of the two proposed calendars, a QR code for completing the calendar survey and the public hearing notice.
Public hearings to collect comments on the 2026-2027 school calendar as required by West Virginia code.
The first hearing will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 at 6:30 pm at the Central Office in Augusta.
The second hearing will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 6:30 pm at the Central Office in Augusta.
If for any reasons these meetings are cancelled due to inclement weather, then the calendar hearing will be held whenever the meeting is rescheduled.
Visitors Are Welcome
The Board welcomes residents of the school district to visit as it conducts its business. We ask you bear in mind that you are a visitor to this meeting, not a participant. It is a meeting held in public, not a public meeting. However, special provisions will be made for each resident who has an interest in doing so to communicate with the Board of Education. Effective conduct of the public's business requires that board members and the general public adhere to common rules of courtesy and meeting organization.
Persons wishing to speak at a Board meeting may sign up to speak five minutes before the meeting. Appearances are limited to 5 minutes.
