The West Virginia Department of Education is honored to announce the 2025 Golden Horseshoe winners for Hampshire County. Since 1931, students have been honored as knights of the Golden Horseshoe, having demonstrated exceptional knowledge of West Virginia history on the state-administered exam. This year, 223 winners will join the WV citizens who have won this prestigious award. Our Romney Middle School winners will have an opportunity to be recognized at the Golden Horseshoe ceremony on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the West Virginia Culture Center in Charleston, WV. Hampshire County Schools will hold two public hearings to collect comments on the 2025-2026 school calendar as required by West Virginia code. The first hearing will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025 at 6:00 pm at Romney Middle School and the second hearing will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 6:30 pm at the central office in Romney. If for any reasons these meetings are cancelled due to inclement weather, then the calendar hearing will be held whenever the meeting is rescheduled.
