Teacher of the Year Recognition Program

List of Hampshire County Teachers of the Year

Hampshire County Schools participate in the Teacher of the Year recognition program. The county teacher of the year is chosen from among nominees chosen by each school in the county. The candidates complete written applications describing their classroom practices, motivation to become a teacher, and philosophy of education. Following interviews, the county teacher of the year is named at the Employee Recognition Ceremony held annually in June.

Once the county honoree is named, the teacher submits an application packet to the West Virginia Department of Education. Several finalists are then chosen by WVDE from among the various county applicants to be interviewed. The West Virginia Teacher of the Year is named in September of each year to represent WV in the National Teacher of the Year competition.

School Service Personnel of the Year Recognition

List of Hampshire County School Service Personnel of the Year

Hampshire County Schools select a Service Personnel of the Year from nominees made by other county employees who have to describe in writing why they are nominating the person to be considered for the honor. The nominees then complete written applications detailing their thoughts about various aspects of their job - the satisfaction they derive from work, a description of their job, and how they help students and other employees in the county. The county service person of the year is named at the Employee Recognition Ceremony held annually in June.
