Kevin Adrian - HHS Class of 1978
Kevin Adrian was a 3-sport letterman at HHS:
Football
Kevin was a 3 year starter at OF & DF End & helped the team finish with 7 wins each year.
He was named to the All Tri-Valley Conference team all 3 years - 1975, 1976 & 1977.
And he was also named to both the Potomac Valley Conference and Cumberland Times All-Area 1st Teams in 1976 & 1977.
In his senior season, was responsible for a throwing a last miniute 41 yard TD to preserve a win over Petersburg in the last game of the season.
In 1977, followng his Senior year, Adrian was only the 3rd Trojan in school history to be named to First Team All-State in football. (He was the only player name from the whole Eastern Panhandle that year.)
Adrian earned a football scholarship to Salem College.
Basketball
At RJHS, he was the top scorer & rebounder on the junior high basketball team leading the Pioneers to a PVL Championship while earning the MVP award for himself.
He was a varsity basketball player at HHS beginning in his sophomore year.
Track & Field
In track, Kevin earned 4th place at the State Meet in shot put while setting meet records at the PVC meet and the Fairmont Times Relays with a throw of 47"11".
Russell "Chuck" Braithwaite - HHS Class of 2001
Chuck Braithwaite was a 3-sport letterman at HHS.
Track & Field
As a sophomore, Chuck broke the HHS (at that time) high jump record by clearing 6'2" at the Gazette Relays.
He earned 3rd place at Rgional & State Track Meets that year.
In his junior year, he broke his own high jump record 2 times clearing 6'5"
Also, in his junior year, he won at the Fort Hill Invitational, the PVC Championships and Regionals on his way to a 5th place at the State Meet and earning All-State Honors.
As a senior, Chuck captured two PVC Championships with a 19'6" jump in the long jump and a 6' jump in high jump, while matching his 6'5" jump at the Quad Meet Championships.
He went on to win Regionals once again with a 6' jump and then placed 3rd at the State Meet with a 6'4" jump winning A;ll-State honors once again.
Football
In his senior year, he was a member of the Trojan football team that qualified for the playoffs for the first time in school history.
Basketball
Chuck was known for his ability to dunk the basketball and was on a sectional champion team that eventually lost to a Martinsburg team that featured future WVU star, Kevin Pittsnogle.
In 2001, Braithwaite was selected to play in the North/South all-star game.
Brent Emmart - HHS Class of 1989
Brent Emmart was a 3 year letterman in basketball and earned 1 letter in football at HHS. He was an assistant football coach for 27 years and an award winning basketball coach at Clark County High School in Berryville, VA for 26 years.
Basketball Player
As the leading scorer on the 1988 & 1989 HHS teams, Brent was the first male basketball player in HHS history to score 1000 pts., finishing with 1029 total pts. overall and achieving 20+ points in 14 games in his career.
In his senior season, Emmart shot 49.1% from the field (189/285), hit 76.7% of his foul shots (99/129), averaged 6.5 rebounds (150) and 3.3 steals (76) while dishing 5.8 assists (134) and scoring 21.4 points per game (492) to help the team finish 21-2 (91.3%) to rank #4 in the state averaging 73.7 points as a team. The team lost in the Regionals to Martinsburg despite Emmart's 29 pts.
In his career, Brent was named to the 1st Team All PVC, 1st Team Cumberland Times All-area Team and 1st Team Martinsburg Journal All-Regional Team.
He was All-State Honorable Mention as a junior in 1988 and All-State Special Honorable Mention as a senior in 1989
He was selected to the North-South All-Star game in Charleston.
Emmart went to Glenville State for basketball until a knee-injury ended his collegiate career.
Basketball Coach
Brent Emmart was the head boys basketball coach for 26 years at Clark County High School.
His teams won nearly 400 games and won 8 Bull Run District regular season titles, 5 district tournament titles and 1 regional title.
His teams won back-to-back stte championships in 2006 & 2007 which were the first ever for the Winchester, VA area high schools and he was named the VA State Coach of the year each of those years.
Brent Emmart was inducted into the Clarke County Athletics Hall of Fame in 2010.
Five of Emmart's high school players went on to play Division 1 collegiate basketball.
Matt Maiers - HHS Class of 2013
Matt Maiers was a 3-year starter on the HHS baseball team and played every position except catcher.
Baseball
Maiers earned 1st Team AMAC distinction as a sophomore in 2011 and as a senior in 2013.
In his senior season, he has 8 wins & 1 loss with an ERA of 1.18 while throwing 66 strike-outs, 13 walks in 59 1/3 innings including 6 complete games.
When not pitching, he was a utility players who would and could go in at any position which earned him the Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Offensively, he finished with a career batting average of .315 with 74 hits, 60 RBIs, 30 runs, 7 HRs and 9 stolen bases.
His other high schools honors in 2013 included being in the top 3 vying for AMAC Player of the Year, 1st HHS pitcher to be named to the All-State 1st Team, and being named a Top 10 Player by WV Prep Baseball Report.
Maiers went on to play baseball at Potomac State and was a member of the 2015 Region 20 District 1 championship team and was named a member of the 1st Team All-Tournament Team for Region 20.
As a sophomore at Pot State, Matth averaged .329 batting with 9 coubles, 6 HRs and 35 RBIs. As a pitcher, had 3 wins, 1 loss, 3 saves and an ERA of 3.86.
In 2016, he pitched a bullpen session for the Kansas City Royals. and signed a Letter of Intent to play Division 1 baseball at Marshall University, but suffered a torn labrum at MU effectively ending his collegiate career.
